Five years, ~7,378 bags of food for our Maury students later, Blessings in a Backpack is going strong and helping our Maury students who need the support over the weekends. Because of you, our students have better access to food on the weekends and gift cards, compliments of the PTA on long holidays. Thank you Maury for all you have done, continue to do, and will do to support our Maury students with donations to Blessings in a Backpack for our school program.
In order to provide for our BIB students for school year 2018 – 2019, we need $105 per student, please donate to our Maury account at
All you need to do is write in our school name and choose the donation amount. A few weeks after your tax free donation, you will receive a confirmation of the donation along with the tax receipt from Blessings in a Backpack.
Or you can also mail in your own check, with our school name in the check’s memo line, at

Also, if you have plastic grocery bags, we would love to reuse them for the BIB bags (please drop off to Ms. Lusk, Maury’s social worker – her office is right down from Mr. Powell’s office). In the coming months, we will be sending out a sign-up sheet for parents to help pick up packed food from the ALIVE! Warehouse in Old Town and deliver to Maury (to Ms. Lusk and then on to our students). More to come on that!
